Advocacy training
GCSAA public policy staff monitor, report and take action on government issues at
the local, state and federal levels and keeps members informed about government
activity through numerous GCSAA outlets and by direct contact with GCSAA chapters,
state turfgrass associations and allied organizations.
Public policy staff can:
- Keep you informed about government issues and activities that affect your job
- Help you advocate your position to lawmakers through letters, phone calls and personal
visits
- Provide you with position papers, research and newsletter and magazine articles
to help you educate lawmakers on golf course issues
- Help you facilitate the building of issue coalitions
- Identify your local, state and national lawmakers and help you build relationships
with those individuals
- Advise your chapter on lobbying strategies, including using the media and hiring
a contract lobbyist
- Conduct customized advocacy training for your chapter members
