Despite ever-expanding demands, there are still only 24 hours in a day. This course
is not about managing time, but about learning to manage yourself within time constraints.
You’ll conduct a time audit to uncover problem areas and misjudgments about where
your time is spent. Next you’ll create an energetic plan of attack on external time
wasters, such a futile meetings and interruptions, as well as internal black holes
like clutter and procrastination. Learn to set effective goals and develop time
management plans that create more satisfaction and greater results. There is no
one “right” way to do this, but this course offers many ideas and techniques to
help you take the right steps toward creating a more satisfying life.
Learning objectives:
- Identify at least two barriers to effective time management, and at least two strategies
for overcoming these barriers.
- Analyze how you currently spend your time.
- Determine your time wasters and time stealers and utilize corrective actions to
mitigate them.
- Ascertain your productivity cycle and apply basic principles of time management
to capitalize on this time.
- Describe how your employees steal time and develop a plan to alter or alleviate
those behaviors.
- Identify three time management tools and explain how you can employ them on the
job.
- Prepare a daily to do list and prioritize the tasks in order to make the most efficient
use of your time.
- Discuss why it is important for managers to delegate.
- Explain why managers often fail to delegate and describe suggested methods for improving
delegation skills.
- Make a plan for delegating duties, task and responsibilities.
- Establish short-and long-term goals and outline your plan for achieving them.
- Evaluate how you balance your professional and personal time and the methods you
can employ to improve this balance.
- Define procrastination; explain its causes and methods to avoid it.
