Beyond the ABCs of Algae

Erwin McKone, CGCS, leads this 90-minute webcast that reviews the role of algae in the aquatic ecosystem. Which type of algae do you have at your course and does knowing it matter? Classic and alternative treatments of algal blooms are examined, as well as selecting a treatment. And what is plankton rain? The new permitting required is also touched on.

About the instructor

Erwin H. McKone, CGCS, is director of golf operations at Briar Ridge Country Club. He holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Michigan. He is participating in the Hoosier Riverwatch program, as well as the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf. McKone has been a GCSAA faculty member since 2008, teaching both webcasts and seminars.
