New Windows software from Teleflex targets the CANtrak range of large-format, automotive-grade LCD human-machine interfaces. CANtrak Configurable Display Module (CCDM) is designed to allow application-specific instrumentation gauges to be developed for handling SAE J1939-compatible CANbus engine data on vehicles or diesel engine-powered equipment, and it also supports NMEA 2000, the protocol used for GPS navigational devices. Graphic displays can be created on CCDM in minutes without specialist knowledge, the company says. Built-in simulation facilities allow immediate testing, and it allows a wide range of engine instrument and alarm displays to be created. Instrument formats include single analog and digital gauges, and the 4.3- by 4.3-inch display screen offers up to four gauges or fault alarms simultaneously. A row of soft-key pushbuttons on the LCD panel enables navigation through multiple display screens. Contact Teleflex, (www.cantrak-int.com). The 12-volt Odyssey PC680 is the newest industrial battery from EnerSys. The starting, lighting and ignition battery offers superior vibration resistance, the company says. A sealed drycell construction prevents external corrosion and acid leakage. The addition of water is not needed, and the terminals are ready upon installation. Installable in any orientation, the certified non-hazardous and non-spillable PC680 provides a service life of six to eight years and a two-year storage life at room temperature. According to the company, Odyssey technology also gives the PC680 advantages over conventional batteries, such as high-conductivity terminals, a high-integrity mechanical compression terminal seal, slow loss of power at the end of the battery’s life, deep-cycle operation and high-cranking power with fast-charging capabilities. The company says the technology prevents sulfation buildup on battery plates, which is the most common cause of battery failure. SolarPulse provides energy to all types of lead-acid batteries, including flooded cell, AGM and gel cell. It also emits a constant electronic dc pulse that removes lead sulfate deposits on battery plates, returning them to the battery acid as active electrolyte. Useful on vehicles and equipment in areas without access to electrical power, the SolarPulse is available in 2-, 5- and 6-watt modes. The 5-watt version comes with installation options.
