The Precision FCI solid metal hose-end nozzles from Underhill complement a series of irrigation products designed for site-specific solutions such as syringing and cooling greens, applying wetting agents and hand-watering dry spots and landscaped areas, the company says. The patented FCI nozzle design features stainless steel diffuser plates with rubber covers. The spray pattern ensures optimum flow rates and uniform droplets, the company adds. Available in a range of sizes and applications, the nozzle models feature 15 to 50 gpm. The Rainbow model is designed for watering transplants and seed beds around the clubhouse; the Rainmaker model is recommended for syringing, cooling and hand-watering; the Cloudburst is ideal for applying wetting agents, syringing and washdown; and the Cyclone is designed for covering a large area up to 60 feet with syringing and cooling. The new MicroDos from Dosmatic USA/International Inc. is the newest in the company’s product line. Named for its micro size, the MicroDos is a nonelectrical, water-driven, proportional injector. FMC Professional Solutions’ Dismiss turf herbicide has received approval of label amendments. Approved label amendments include post-emergence control of goosegrass addition; shortened overseeding and reseeding intervals; shortened sod establishment interval; purple nutsedge split application table; St. Augustinegrass addition; and surfactants not recommended. Coolwell, manufacturer of the Coolwell G2 Climate Control System, announces that Club Car Inc. has approved the use of its cooling and heating device on its golf cars. The system uses ice, physics and less than 1 amp of battery power to serve as a true air conditioner for riders in golf cars. The machine delivers completely dry air up to 45 degrees below ambient temperature. The units can be purchased by golf facilities and golf car owners, the company says. The G2 also comes with a sanitary beverage storage compartment and operates using a fraction of the power available to the golf car. Approximately 13 pounds of ice are required for an 18-hole round of golf when played in severe heat, the company adds. Pennington Seed’s new Slopemaster Professional Erosion Control Seed Mixture is designed specifically for erosion-prone areas where rapid establishment is necessary. The mixture grows aggressively to provide complete ground cover, and it contains perennial and annual seeds, boosting establishment and lengthening life, the company says. Slopemaster includes Durana, a persistent white clover that contains as many as 97 stolons per square foot, which can anchor many erodible soils, the company adds. Onset Computer Corp.’s new data logger is designed for measuring water levels and temperatures at shallow depths up to 13 feet. Ideal for use in groundwater wells, streams and wetlands, the shallow depth HOBO water level logger can meet a wide range of water monitoring applications, including irrigation studies, the company says. A maintenance-free pressure sensor and full-sealed housing come standard, while customers have the options of stainless steel and titanium versions. Other features include a connector-free data offload, which provides high-speed, reliable data offload in wet environments, and the company’s HOBOware software package with graphing and analysis features. Solo Inc. says its new model 124 brush cutter is ideal for continuous medium-level work. Maximum performance can be achieved even at low revolutions that result in less noise, fewer fumes and longer operational life, the company adds. A newly developed antivibration system on the brush cutter reduces vibration with elements connecting the engine and shaft to the bicycle handle. Powered by a 2-cycle, 40.7-cc gas engine, the unit features a three-part crankshaft and two-shoe centrifugal clutch. The story of Old Tom Morris and Young Tom Morris can be found in a newly released book by journalist Kevin Cook. “Tommy’s Honor: The Story of Old Tom Morris and Young Tom Morris, Golf’s Founding Father and Son” describes the history of the two, their rivalry, differences, contrasting ideas and how they shaped the golf landscape of today, says the book’s publisher, Gotham Books. John Deere offers a new 755D crawler loader that the company says is ideal for loader applications requiring a lot of power. The 755D is powered by a 6.8-liter, 6-cylinder John Deere 6068H engine that’s turbocharged, charge-air-cooled and Tier 3-certified. The engine features a wet sleeve design and provides 181 hp at 1,800 rpm. A hydrostatic transmission is controlled by a single lever and causes the machine to provide power management, infinite speed control, power turns, counter-rotation and dynamic braking. A transmission-only decelerator operation supplies full power to the hydraulics while slowing the tracks, the company says. The operator’s station features doors that are 4 inches wider than the previous model, dual-sided sliding windows and increased airflow and defrosting from 10 adjustable air vents. Becker Underwood Inc.’s new Salute WSP, a turfgrass conditioner with potassium silicate, is designed to increase turf wear tolerance, enhance ball roll and facilitate uniform cutting of turf, the company says. Salute WSP also is said to reduce stress and stimulate root growth through improved water and nutrient uptake. A dry water-soluble combination of potassium silicate, humic acid, fulvic acid, kelp, saponins and a proprietary blend of amino acids, beneficial bacteria and simple sugar, Salute WSP is tank-mix compatible with most pesticides, fertilizers and micronutrients. The Toro Co. has launched its new DT Series Sprinklers as part of its Synergy Series line of golf irrigation products. The DT Series contains several features and concepts from the company’s 800 Series. Equipped with a selectable trajectory feature for the main nozzle that is adjustable to either 15 or 25 degrees, the sprinkler lets users select between both angles by rotating the nozzle module. The DT sprinkler also accepts an optional radius-reduction screw to fine tune the main nozzle radius, and the inner nozzle uses a helical restrictor to provide larger water droplets in windy conditions, the company says. Two models are available: a full-circle-only version and a full- and part-circle model. The sprinklers also are back-nozzle capable, allowing flexibility for fine-tuning, the company adds. L1 Technologies, maker of the iGolf GPS Caddie, has released its iGolfGPS Software v3.0, an application that enables a GPS-ready Pocket PC or other hand-held device to provide precise distance measurements to the front, center and back of putting greens. The software also allows users to add up to eight custom points per hole and measure the distance of drives and other shots. An electronic integrated scorecard also is included. Turfco Manufacturing has added versatility to its TriWave 60-inch overseeder with its new power take-off shaft that allows the unit to be mounted to tractors without the need to trim the shaft. The TriWave 60-inch also has received a new patent-pending top hitch link designed to allow the unit to track ground contour better. The machine also features Turfco’s WaveBlade technology and a patent-pending seed delivery system to yield more effective seed placement with reduced turf damage, the company says. Caterpillar’s new H35Ds and H45Ds hydraulic hammers contain nearly 50 percent fewer parts than their predecessors, the H45/H45s, simplifying maintenance and reducing operating costs, the company says. The H45Ds, part of the 300-foot-pound class in power, provides 2,300 blows per minute and matches with the company’s 302.5C, 301.6C and 301.8C mini-hydraulic excavators. The H35Ds is in the 150-foot-pound class, provides 2,900 blows per minute and matches the 301.6C and 301.8C Caterpillar mini-hydraulic excavators. Kubota Tractor Corp. unveils its new B-series tractor loader backhoe (TLB) compact tractor, which is equipped with more horsepower, loader-lifting capacity, backhoe digging power and depth. The B26 TLB, which combines three-point implements, a backhoe and loader units into one, features a 26-hp Kubota diesel engine with 23 percent more power. The machine also includes four-wheel drive with a differential rear-axle lock to enable performance on varying types of terrain, the company says. The B26 can lift 1,676 pounds 24 inches behind the lift points. A hydraulic, independent, power takeoff allows PTO engagement without the need to stop the tractor, the company adds. The operator station features side-positioning of the loader joystick. By lifting a lever, the deluxe seat is reversed for an easy switch to backhoe operation. Stow-n-Go announces its Stow-n-Go mobile locker system that can be delivered by truck to a venue of a customer’s choice within the continental United States. Each unit contains 350 lockers that arrive as a self-contained unit on a trailer, which offers convenient and secure storage for attendees of events such as a golf tournament. Awnings are included to shelter the units and locker users from rain or other weather elements. Each locker is equipped with its own lockset and key combination ratio of 16 million to one. Colbond Inc. launches its EnkaRetain & Drain, an absorbent, nonwoven filter fabric for green roof and planter applications. It is designed to absorb and retain water so plant roots will have a continuous source of moisture while allowing excess water to filter through and drain. The product, which is bonded to a three-dimensional Enkadrain 3000R series drainage core, contributes to the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification points, the company says. Made of environmentally friendly, post-industrial, recycled polypropylene, the Enkadrain drainage core is molded into a square, waffle-type pattern to allow water to flow from all directions. Its water retention fabric holds 10 times its weight in water, the company adds. The products are said to require less labor to install than single subsurface drainage and water retention components. Precision Laboratories Inc. unveils its Jet Black EZ SoluPak, a lake and pond dye designed to be aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly. Though blue dye has long been a traditional choice for lake and pond colorants, the company says many are switching to black for its mirror-like appearance. A blend of nontoxic dyes formulated to reduce sunlight penetration, Jet Black EZ SoluPak will deliver a black color when applied to any water feature, the company adds. The new ultrasonic WatchDog Sprayer Station from Spectrum Technologies Inc. gives users a tool to monitor and data log weather conditions. Accurate data can help pesticide applicators make decisions concerning drift, safety and proper application, the company says. The weather station, which is smaller than a can of soda, measures air temperature, humidity, dew point, wind chill, barometric pressure and apparent wind speed and direction. It can handle adverse conditions with a UV-stabilized, compact house that’s waterproof and chemical-resistant. The WatchDog station contains no moving parts; the standard wind vane and cups have been replaced by ultrasonic transducers. The device can connect to a Pocket PC/

Jacobsen, a Textron company, has made improvements to its all-electric walking greensmower, the E-Walk. Enhancements include a redesigned electronic control unit to simplify the functional options on the machine. A new D-handle design specific to the company’s InCommand control system provides a consistent operator platform. Within the base unit, the motors that power the reels and drive the traction system have also been redesigned for more durability.
