John O’Hurley

Actor

He’s light on his feet, can write some mean catalog copy and even settle a “Family Feud.”

He’s John O’Hurley, and he’s been everywhere from “Dancing with the Stars” to “Seinfeld” to host of the “Family Feud.”

Best known as eccentric catalog owner J. Peterman in “Seinfeld,” O’Hurley got his start in TV as an actor on daytime soap operas. Since rising to fame as a “Seinfeld” regular, he’s landed such jobs as hosting “The National Dog Show” and USA Network’s “Get Golf with the PGA Tour.”

O’Hurley is also a musician, an author and a businessman. In a rare moment of life imitating art, O’Hurley is now part-owner of the J. Peterman Co., along with the real J. Peterman.

A golf fanatic, O’Hurley proposed to his wife of four years, Lisa Mesloh, by hiding the engagement ring in the cup on No. 7 at Pebble Beach. “The cup was trimmed quite well that day,” O’Hurley jokes.

— Seth Jones, senior associate editor

"(Great conditions) are the reason people play golf. Everywhere you go, the course looks good for them. It’s always the best of God’s topography. They build the golf course first, and then they build the hotel, and then they build the parking lot, and then they build the tennis courts.

Course conditions make or break a course. And it’s all on the shoulders of one guy. "
