Three years after taking the worst that Hurricane Katrina could dish out, the city of New Orleans remains on a slow but steady road to recovery, a process that has included the city’s golf courses. In this issue of GCM, senior associate editor Seth Jones revisits some of the facilities that welcomed a relief effort orchestrated by the Rocky Mountain GCSA in March of 2006 to see just how much has changed for golf in the Big Easy.

Also, we take an in-depth look at two prominent professional golf events — the Tour Championship and the Ryder Cup — that this month will once again put the golf course management industry in the spotlight.

This month’s cover photo by Scott McCrossen (www.five65.com) features Walker Sory, the Class A superintendent at New Orleans’ Audubon Park Golf Course and a 17-year GCSAA member.
