Mark D. Kuhns, CGCS, is no stranger to the spotlight, thanks to a career that has included stops at some of the most prestigious clubs in the country and leadership turns in preparing those venues for events like the U.S. Open and PGA Championship. Last month at the GCSAA Education Conference and Golf Industry Show in New Orleans, the spotlight shone upon Kuhns again as he took the helm as GCSAA’s 73rd president. In this issue of GCM, Senior Staff Writer Terry Ostmeyer examines Kuhns’ career, his long history of service to the profession and his plans for his year in office.

Also, the GCM staff takes a look back at the notable headlines and events from this year’s conference and show. This month’s cover photo features Kuhns and was taken by James Lum.
