Sanford G. Queen, CGCS
Sanford G. Queen, CGCS, was elected GCSAA secretary/treasurer, Feb. 12, 2010, at the association’s annual meeting in San Diego. As secretary/treasurer, he also holds a board of trustee position for The Environmental Institute for Golf (the philanthropic organization of the GCSAA).
Queen has been the manager of golf operations for the city of Overland Park (Kan.) since 1984. Previously, he served as superintendent for the city of Overland Park.
A GCSAA member for 32 years, Queen is a member and past president of the Heart of America GCSA, a member of the Kansas Turfgrass Association and The First Tee of Greater Kansas City.
A native of Miami, Fla., Queen and his wife, Laura, currently reside in Overland Park, Kan. They have a son, Sandy Jr., and a daughter, Heather.
