On Your Behalf
GCSAA is dedicated to serving its members, advancing their profession and enhancing the enjoyment, growth and vitality of the game of golf. This section aims to highlight those things GCSAA does on behalf of the superintendent, the profession or the industry.
| National Recreation and Park Association show |
As part of GCSAA’s ongoing outreach efforts, GCSAA participated in the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) show in Baltimore, Oct. 14 - 18, 2008. We felt that this show is especially important for us to attend on behalf of you, our municipal member. We exhibited at the show in addition to presenting information on a variety of topics, including:
- Your leading role in environmental stewardship
- Your value to your golf facility and city or county in this ever-changing economic climate
- The value of your continuing education toward your professional goals
- Advocating that the game of golf must be accessible and affordable for all

| Speakers Bureau Program |
GCSAA provides outreach to members, allied associations, industry partners, constituents and others. Making personal connections:
- Builds and strengthens relationships
- Provides an opportunity to discuss and collaborate on issues of common interest
Through the speakers bureau program, the GCSAA Board of Directors and staff visit affiliated chapters and members. This year, visits will be made to at least one-third of GCSAA-affiliated chapters. These visits:
- Include a meeting with the chapter's leadership to share intelligence on the successes and challenging impacting members in the area
- Create a forum for members to share feedback on GCSAA services, programs and resources
- Provide an opportunity to discuss the value of GCSAA membership, what GCSAA is doing for members, and how this contributes to the success of their golf facilities
- Offer time for members to interact with a GCSAA representative to discuss issues impacting their career, profession and industry
Feedback from members and the chapter is shared with GCSAA staff. This information is taken into consideration to ensure members' needs are being addressed, that GCSAA is advocating for the interests of its members, and to help enhance the services and support provided to members.
This year, GCSAA representatives will participate in eight regional conferences and trade shows, with an opportunity to connect with 32 GCSAA-affiliated chapters. Similar to speakers bureau visits, GCSAA representatives will meet with chapter leaders, make a presentation to members, and interact with members at a trade show booth and throughout the conference event. |
National Golf Day |
Industry leaders converge on Capitol Hill for first National Golf Day.
Members of the GCSAA Board of Directors, Government Relations Committee and staff joined representatives from other golf organizations in Washington, D.C., April 16, 2008 for National Golf Day. Executives from supporting members of the World Golf Foundation plan to discuss the industry’s impact on the economy, the environment and charitable causes. According to a recent study by The World Golf Foundation’s GOLF 20/20, the golf industry generated $76 billion in direct economic impact in 2005, and when combined with indirect economic impact, the total rises to $195 billion. The report also states that the industry generates more than $3.5 billion annually for charities across the country. |
