Why should I be a GCSAA member?
Partnering with GCSAA provides you with the resources you need to be a valuable asset to your team and facility. As a GCSAA member, you will have the ability to connect with peers in the industry, pursue further professional education programs and participate in the world’s leading membership organization dedicated to advancing golf course management.
Why should my superintendent endorse my GCSAA membership?
In today’s competitive environment, your golf operation needs every advantage for success, and course conditions are the key driver. In a 2005 Golf Digest survey of avid golfers, 88% said they would prefer to play a course that is in very good condition but not as challenging, as opposed to a course that is not in good condition, but is very challenging.
“Today’s assistants are challenged in reaching their goal of becoming a golf course superintendent. As a 10-year member of the GCSAA, I have been given the opportunity to achieve many things in my pursuit of becoming a golf course superintendent some day.
My membership provided me with the ability to volunteer on many committees which, in turn, helped me network with peers and mentors in the industry. At an early stage in my career I was able to apply and was awarded a position in the first Toro Tournament Training Program at Pinehurst No. 2. Most recently I was able to participate in the Assistant Task Group at the GCSAA headquarters in Lawrence, Kansas.
The GCSAA website has allowed me to research, helped me in preparing for job interviews and provided me with templates on financial management. Anytime I have needed something, the staff has been extremely helpful and pleasant.
The industry relationships I have fostered are as a result of the GCSAA. I have come to meet some very influential people in our industry and I don’t think this experience would have been possible if it were not for being a member of the GCSAA.”
