A letter from the chair of the Research Committee and GCSAA’s director of research
GCSAA research program: Funding new research in 2010
We have been contacted by several scientists asking about our plans to fund new research beginning in 2010, and we wanted to take this opportunity to provide an update. It is the responsibility of the GCSAA Board of Directors to set the budget for all association programs, including research funding. The board is working through the usual budget process this fall and is scheduled to approve the 2010 budget at its December meeting. At this time, it is too early in the process to say anything about the 2010 GCSAA budget, including funding for new research.
We will communicate further information about the 2010 budget after the board of directors meeting in December. If funding for new research to begin in 2010 is approved, we will establish a timeline for issuing the request for proposals (RFP), receiving proposals, reviewing proposals, and notifying scientists of proposals approved for funding. We will then share that timeline and RFP.
If you have questions, please contact Clark Throsell, Ph.D., GCSAA director of research at cthrossell@gcsaa.org, or (406) 656-1986.
