Ron Wright's career has taken the certified golf course superintendent from the cold of Michigan to coastal Alabama and across the Caribbean to the Cayman Islands. His role as GCSAA's Southeast field representative will bring him back to Alabama, where he spent 15 years as director of agronomy at Mobile (Ala.) Country Club and was past president of the Gulf Coast GCSA. The 23-year GCSAA member also served on the board of South Florida GCSA. He spent more than a decade in Florida, including time as superintendent at TPC Eagle Trace and LaGorce Country Club.
He has been an active member of GCSAA, having served on his first committee in 1998. That same year he also served on his first USGA Green Section Committee. Since 2011, Wright has been director of grounds at The Ritz-Carlton in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. With his role as Southeast field representative, he will be based in Alabama to serve GCSAA members in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
He is a graduate of Michigan State University.
