Statement
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as a director for GCSAA for the past two years. It has been an honor and a pleasure to work with individual members, committees, GCSAA staff and fellow board members as we continue to try to improve our profession, our commitment to environmental stewardship and the level of challenge and enjoyment that we provide for golfers as they play golf on our golf courses.

My first term of board service has provided a refreshing reminder to me about how passionately committed golf course superintendents are to their work, their families and their communities. I want to especially congratulate and say thanks to our GCSAA members that have consistently demonstrated the determination and perseverance necessary to overcome the challenges they faced as a result of hurricanes, flooding, fires and other natural disasters over the past couple of years. They have inspired us all to be stronger and better individuals and superintendents. Thanks also to so many of our GCSAA members and staff that have freely shared their time, money and talents to help people affected by these disasters. You make us all very proud to be GCSAA members.

I also want to thank the Florida GCSA and its board of directors for nominating me again for the office of director of GCSAA. I am very grateful for the encouragement, advice and support they have provided to me during my first two years of service as a GCSAA director. My wife, La Vada, daughters, Jennifer and Laura, and my employer, Boca Rio Golf Club, continue to strongly encourage me to serve as a director for GCSAA. I really appreciate their unwavering support of my efforts to give something back to both our profession and the game of golf.

I remain committed to ensuring that GCSAA provides consistently excellent educational and professional development programs, technical support resources and networking opportunities for our members. Participating in GCSAA programs and networking opportunities, and regularly relying on GCSAA technical support resources have helped me to become a more competent superintendent. We need to continually insist that these programs and opportunities remain the primary priority for GCSAA and the types of services we provide to our membership. I am excited that we are beginning to explore the possibilities of GCSAA field staffing and stronger working relationships between GCSAA and our local chapters. I firmly believe that we must do everything we can to facilitate the success of our local chapters.

Thanks again for placing your trust in me by electing me in 2005 to serve as a GCSAA director and for seriously considering my qualification for serving as a GCSAA director for a second term. I appreciate your continued support of GCSAA and its leadership and hope you will allow me the opportunity to continue in this leadership role.
