Gardener-triplex operator
Gardener-triplex operators, under the direction of the assistant superintendent or foreman, operate light motorized equipment, and trucks on the golf course, and do related work as needed for golf course maintenance.
Typical functions:
- Mows greens, tees, aprons, and approaches to greens, and other areas not accessible with gang mowers; rakes sand traps with power rakes.
- Aerifies greens; verticuts tees and greens; spikes greens; operates sod cutter, spray rigs for greens and fertilizer spreaders; and mows rough with rotary and operates other equipment as directed.
- Maintains gasoline, oil and other equipment fluid levels daily; reports equipment problems and failures to equipment manager immediately.
- Performs basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by the assistant superintendent or equipment manager; and returns equipment to designated location at the maintenance facility. Utilizes loaders to remove dirt, debris and other materials.
- Drives a dump truck to haul materials and refuse; operates portable pumps.
- May occasionally operate gang units in the absence of equipment operator.
- May be asked to change pins and tee markers.
- Performs other duties as directed by assistant superintendent.
Employment standards:
- Knowledge of the safe mechanical operation of trucks and other motorized equipment.
- Knowledge of the principles of operation of gasoline engines.
- Knowledge of maintenance tools.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
