Interview Checklist

After coming out of a job interview, you probably tend to focus on what the prospective employer thought of you. Did you make a good impression? Did they like you?

But what you should focus on is what you thought about them. The questions should be: Did they make a good impression on you? Knowing more about the organization and a potential employer, do you really want this job? The following checklist can help individuals in the golf course maintenance profession evaluate a prospective job and employer.

Is the golf course and organization competitively well positioned in its market?
Is there evidence of current and planned investment in technology and equipment?
Is the golf course and organization adequately staffed?
Does it attract high-caliber, quality personnel?
Would I recommend the golf course to a friend?
Does the organization/facility have a vision/mission, strategic and/or long-range plan?
Is the culture compatible with my work/personal style?
Do employees seem to like working there?
Did the employer offer information about why the position is open?
Did I like the people I met during the interview process?

Will the relationship with my manager be a positive one?
Is there an established career path associated with the job?
Does the organization support and fund continuing education?
Will I be visible to higher management in this position?
Are there opportunities for increased responsibilities in the future?
Will I have the opportunity to make good contacts in the industry?

Is the offered salary within my target salary range?
Is there a schedule for routine salary review?
Will my performance be officially appraised at least annually?
Is the average rate of salary increase for this job comparable to the market?
Can I expect a promotion before I reach the top of the salary range for this job?
