Turbo TeeJet expands spray tip line
A new capacity has been added to the Turbo TeeJet wide-angle flat spray tip product line. The new 025 capacity (0.25 gallon per minute at 40 PSI per tip) is ideal for fungicide spraying when used with the company's QJ90 dual outlet adapter to produce two angled spray patterns for better canopy penetration and leaf coverage.
The new Turbo TeeJet tip is violet in accordance with ISO color-coding standards to facilitate quick capacity identification.
In addition to being widely used for fungicide application, the Turbo TeeJet is a good choice for insecticide application and spraying of pre- or post-emergence contact or systemic herbicides. The nozzle's tapered edge and wide-angle flat spray pattern offers excellent spray distribution in broadcast spraying.
Turbo TeeJet nozzles also feature a large, rounded internal passage to minimize clogging and produce larger droplets for improved drift control. Constructed of an economical, durable polymer, the TT provides excellent corrosion and wear resistance. TT nozzles can be used with a wide variety of standard flat spray caps and feature automatic spray alignment when used with Quick TeeJet caps.

PBI /Gordon introduces Q4 turf herbicide
PBI /Gordon Corp. has received EPA approval of its new Q4 turf herbicide for grassy and broadleaf weed control. The patented formulation contains the protox inhibitor sulfentrazone in combination with quinclorac, 2,4-D and dicamba.
It will join Gordon's ProForm brand which includes SpeedZone, PowerZone, SpeedZone Southern and Surge herbicides. The Q4 label will feature the distinctive checkered flag design in orange.
As an alternative to MSMA products, Q4 has dramatically reduced phytotoxicity on cool-season grass species. It also has the enhanced speed of a protox inhibitor, which is a good fit in the golf, lawn care and landscape markets. "Grassy weeds, such as crabgrass and foxtail will turn ghostly pale prior to the reddening which precedes weed death," said Doug Obermann, product manager. "Yellow nutsedge suppression is another distinct advantage of the Q4 formulation."
“Like Surge, Q4 is ‘energized with sulfentrazone',” said Obermann. “Users will see a similar response in broadleaf weed control,” Obermann said. “The broadleaf weeds turn brown, dry up and blow away.”
The new formulation is designed for use on cool-season turf. Adding 2,4-D and dicamba broadens the weed control spectrum and adds systemic activity to the contact activity of sulfentrazone for multiple modes of action.

Toro builds NSN virtual classroom
Taking advantage of of web technology, Toro NSN has announced the development of “Super Sessions”—a virtual training academy that broadens NSN's curriculum to enhance the skills of golf course superintendents. Super Sessions are 90-minute training segments that are accessible from any high-speed Internet connection.
“NSN has taught more than 3,000 students in a traditional classroom setting. These web-based sessions offer targeted training, which superintendents believe is critical to both their professional development and tightening budgets,” said Larry Spain, field training manager
Because the expense of travel is spared and the sessions have been approved for GCSAA education points, the web-based training is an economical way to earn those points for entry and renewal of Class A and CGCS.
“The small class size and specific training topic provide the opportunity for an intense learning experience where constant interaction encourages retention of the material,” Spain said. Students can choose from a catalog full of relevant topics ranging from calculating sprinkler efficiency to advanced operation of central control systems.

LebanonTurf to produce ryegrass resistant to leaf spot
LebanonTurf has announced the development of three ryegrass varieties resistant to gray leaf spot.
Secretariat II GLSR, Exacta II GLSR and Charismatic II GLSR were developed with Rutgers University and all scored high in NTEP data that was published by Rutgers. Exacta II GLSR was the No. 1 ranked variety for gray leaf spot resistance.
The varieties are a product of plant material exhibiting resistance to the disease that was found during collection trips in central and eastern Europe over the last several years.
It was then crossed through conventional breeding techniques with the most cutting-edge parental germplasm available, culminating in the release of these varieties. They will be available in limited quantities after new crop harvest in fall 2006. Contact (800) 233-0628 http://www.lebturf.com.
