Harry Cavanagh passes away at age 84

Harry Joseph Cavanagh Sr., a former Trustee of the Environmental Institute for Golf passed away Dec. 30, at age 84.

Cavanaugh was on the board of trustees from February of 2000 through February of 2006.

He also served on The PGA of America Advisory Committee for 16 years (1983-1999) and was a current member of the Southwest PGA Section Advisory Committee.

The Southwest PGA Section named Cavanagh recipient of its "Anser Award" in 1996. He was inducted in the Arizona Golf Hall of Fame in 2001. He also served as chairman of the LPGA's Safeway International and was the first chairman of the fundraising committee for the Karsten Golf Course at Arizona State University.

As a fighter pilot and instructor for during World War II he was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and two air medals. He later graduated from the University of Arizona Law School and He established the O'Connor, Cavanagh Law Firm and the Cavanagh Law Firm.

He served on the board of numerous charities including the Banner Health Foundation, serving as its chairman for three years. Most recently, the Cardiac Care Center at Banner Good Samaritan in Phoenix was named in his honor.


Otten joins E-Z-Go as vice president

E-Z-Go, has hired Ronald L. Otten as vice president, engineering. He has more than 25 years of leadership experience in the global agricultural, construction equipment, material handling and transportation industries.

Otten was previous director of product development and corporate quality at Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc.


Standard Golf adds Nygren to marketing team
 
Standard Golf Co. has hired Jim Nygren as a market analyst at the company's Cedar Falls headquarters.
 
Nygren will play a key role in the marketing of Standard Golf products in the golf market.  Before joining Standard Golf, he spent a number of years with a lumber wholesaler based in Des Moines, Iowa. 


Key joins SubAir golf staff

SubAir Systems has added of Brian Key to its agronomic and golf project staff. 

As an agronomist and golf project manager, he will assist in planning, installation, and customer service.  He will also assist the company's engineers, leading projects on research greens at their office and production facility in South Carolina.
 
Key has worked in environmental horticulture for more than fifteen years and was previously the director of golf at Swainsboro Golf and Country Club. 


President of Crary becomes chairman of the board

Chuck Crary, President of Crary Industries Inc.--a subsidiary of ECHO Incorporated--stepped down as president to become chairman of the board. Taking his place will be Keith Nilson, formerly vice president of operations.

Nilson joined Crary in 2004 as vice president of operations. He previously held executive positions at Kohler Co. and BTD Manufacturing.

Crary is a subsidiary of Echo Inc., and specializes in agricultural products such as potato harvesters and the Bear Cat chippers/shredders.
