Brede named Innovator of the Year

Doug Brede, Ph.D. has been named as the recipient of Turfgrass Producers International Innovator of the Year Award.

Brede is research director at Jacklin Seed in Post Falls, Idaho. He is the developer of over 60 popular turf varieties, including Nu Destiny Kentucky bluegrass and T-1 creeping bentgrass. His research team has developed, released, and patented top cultivars in nine other grass species. He has authored 53 Plant Variety Protection certificates, 73 peer-review journal articles, 94 technical articles and abstracts, 72 magazine articles, and a book entitled, "Turfgrass Maintenance Reduction Handbook," that describes ways to optimize your turf maintenance budget.

Garrett becomes Experience Manager at FarmLinks

Blake Garrett is the new manager of The Experience at FarmLinks. He will work directly with the more than 1,200 golf course superintendents and golf professionals who visit Pursell Farms and FarmLinks Golf Club each year.

He was previously the golf course superintendent  and returns to FarmLinks with more than 11 years in the golf course industry, most recently as the golf course superintendent of the Oconee Course.

Broome joins Synatek as golf technical sales representative

Synatek has hired Rick Broome as a technical sales representative serving northern and south central New Jersey, and southern New York. Broome has more than 25 years experience as a golf course superintendent, most recently at Harbor Pines Golf Club.

Ewing reveals staffing changes

Jeff Zwick is the new national key accounts manager for Ewing Irrigation and J.R. Richards is taking his position as Phoenix regional manager.

The key account sales division will target the sales and operational needs of multi-territorial landscape and irrigation companies.
