Bobcat adds Toolcat 5610
Bobcat has introduced the Toolcat 5610, featuring a three-point hitch and hydraulic power take-off for rear implements and the ability to run more than 40 front-mounted attachments.
The new model has an available Category 1 three-point hitch that allows crews to perform a variety of tasks with implements weighing up to 1,775 pounds. A hydraulic motor powers the 540-revolutions-per-minute rear PTO to drive implements such as multiple stage mowers for cutting grass, tillers and soil conditioners for site preparation, sprayers for applying fertilizer, and snowblowers for clearing snow, among other applications. High-flow auxiliary hydraulics are required to run the PTO.
In addition to the three-point implements is also a compact loader and attachment carrier, with a front lift arm that has a rated operating capacity of 1,300 pounds (1,500 pounds with an optional counterweight kit or PTO kit.)
Front-mounted attachments include an auger for drilling fence post holes or planting trees, a mower for cutting grass, pallet forks for transporting pallets of fertilizer or other materials, a snow blade for clearing snow, and a sweeper for clearing sidewalks of snow or dirt. In total, more than 40 front-mounted attachments are available for use on the Toolcat 5610.
The 5610 does not have a rear cargo box like the Toolcat 5600; instead, it has two rear compartments capable of carrying up to 50 pounds of load each. Visit http://www.bobcat.com/mytoolcat.
New formulation of Bayleton now available
A flowable formulation of Bayleton fungicide is now registered for use in golf course turf, as well as on ornamental plants, shrubs and trees according to Bayer Environmental Science. It is still available in water soluble packaging as Bayleton 50 WSP.
A new, water-based suspension concentrate formulation, Bayleton Flo easily mixes directly into water, providing improved product dispersement. The product is easy to measure and provides superior preventive control of a broad-spectrum of diseases, including dollar spot, brown patch, fairy ring and gray leaf spot.
"The new flowable formulation is easily and rapidly absorbed by plant and root systems. It provides 14-28-day residual control of many of the major turf and ornamental diseases," said Richard Rees, fungicide development manager. Lebanon offers three new tall fescues
LebanonTurf has announced the availability of three next generation tall fescue varieties from 2008 crop seed production – Monet, Van Gogh, and Cezanne Rz.
All three varieties are highly rated in the 2007 NTEP trials, and are available in Winning Colors Tall fescue blend or Winning Colors Plus mix.
Monet tied for first for overall turf quality in the 2007 NTEP trial. It was selected for improved disease resistance, fine leaf texture, high endophyte level, and dark green genetic color. It is also extremely drought and heat tolerant and requires less water and inputs to maintain top quality turf.
Van Gogh tied for second for overall turf quality in the 2007 trial.
Cezanne Rz features rhizomatous traits and ranked first of 113 for sod strength in the 2007 trial. For more on all three varieties, visit http://www.lebanonturf.com.
Deere introduces 120D and 135D excavators
John Deere is offering two new hydraulic excavators in the 12- to 13.5-metric-ton range, the 120D and 135D.
The 120D is a perfect "dig-and-run" unit for jobs such as excavating basements or placing pipe and transports easily between jobs. The 135D is a reduced-tail-swing machine capable of maximum production in confined areas and work within a single lane of traffic. A short counterweight allows it to dig nearer to buildings and obstructions.
"Both these machines have the hallmarks of our D-Series line, including our Powerwise III engine and hydraulic management system for smooth power and fuel savings, and roomy, comfortable cabs with great visibility," said Mark Wall, excavator product marketing manager.
Operators can be more productive in the 120D and 135D excavators due to an easy-to-enter, comfortable cab. It is also isolation mounted and offers virtually unrestricted visibility, as well as ergonomically arranged controls. Machine operations can be monitored with ease on the intuitive, multifunction LCD screen. All the creature comforts are there as well, like automatic climate control, AM/FM radio, and a deluxe-suspension multi-position seat.
Tungsten-carbide coated surfaces and oil-impregnated boom, arm and bucket bushings deliver long-term durability. Large, easy-to-open service doors provide ample access to dipsticks, sight gauges, and spin-on vertical engine and hydraulic filters for simple daily and periodic servicing. Extended engine and hydraulic oil-service intervals increase uptime and reduce daily operating costs. Visit www.johndeere.com.

Companion biological fungicide receives new EPA label
Companion liquid biological fungicide has received a new EPA label for all turfgrass and landscape according manufacturer Growth Products Ltd.
The company says the product prevents, controls and suppresses a broad range of root and foliar diseases including Anthracnose, brown patch, dollar spot, summer patch, Fusarium patch, Pythium and Phytophthora.
Its GB03 strain of Bacillus subtilis produces a broad-spectrum antibiotic that disrupts pathogen cell-wall formation, crowds out pathogens and activates a plant’s natural immune system to fight disease.
Several years of trials at Rutgers and the University of Massachusetts have also shown that it can be used in combination with lower rates of chemical fungicides for improved efficacy and/or in rotation with chemical fungicides, thereby reducing chemical applications and total chemical costs. Mosquito 86 offers blower-based fogger
According to its manufacturer, Mosquito 86 Pest Eradication System is a professional-grade mosquito elimination system that operates as an attachment to a common hand-held yard or leaf blower to turn it into an extraordinarily effective mosquito killing machine.
Developed and manufactured by Roll LLC, the system integrates an ordinary leaf blower and a patent-pending spray system, which uses liqui-shear technology to disperse a water dilution of a permethrin-based pesticide solution into a fine mist.
The application method dispenses both very fine aerosol droplets that stay aloft and kill mosquitoes on contact, and larger droplets that fall to leave a barrier residue for longer term protection. It provides precise control over the air and agent stream, enabling users to easily apply the treatment to lawn, trees, bushes, and gardens. The active ingredient is EPA approved and safe around humans and pets.
Complete kits with a choice of a gas or electric blower are available for those who do not already own a leaf blower. Additionally, universal adapter kits are available with a custom adapter to fit over 50 leaf and yard blower models.
A full list of products can be found online at www.mosquito86.com and can also be purchased on www.amazon.com, www.target.com, as well as at independent retailers.
