First ever gas-powered utility vehicle from Kubota

Kubota has introduced a new gas-powered compact utility vehicle that it says comes with the comfort, technology and refinement of a larger utility vehicle, but is compact enough to fit in the bed of a full-size, long-bed pickup truck.

According to Kubota, The RTV500 is powerful enough to handle the toughest challenges on rugged terrain, with a 15.8-horsepower, liquid-cooled, two-cylinder Kubota gas engine, four-wheel drive, and a top speed of 25 miles-per-hour. It is 54.7 inches wide and 72 inches tall.

The engine features a liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder design that ensures smooth, quiet, consistent power delivery throughout its power band. The electronic fuel injection improves engine performance by providing quick, easy starts, even in the most severe weather conditions, as well as on-demand power, optimized acceleration, and eliminates the need to adjust the carburetor.

The vehicle comes standard with the exclusive new VHT Plus variable hydrostatic transmission, which eliminates the need to adjust belt drives and provides smooth, reliable transmission-assisted braking and hill-holding capabilities. It weighs 1,278 pounds, and can handle more than 440 pounds or 9 cubic feet in its metal dumping cargo box. The towing capacity is 1,100 pounds. Visit http://www.kubota.com.

FarmLinks makes the CEU grade

The Experience at FarmLinks’ programs have been approved by GCSAA for continuing education units through the External Education Program.

"We’re excited to be an affiliate member of the GCSAA and to be able to provide quality programs that promote professional development," Erle Fairly, president of FarmLinks, remarked.  "Continuing education is imperative for the success of superintendents – and for their golf facilities.  And it’s important to our team that the solutions-oriented programs we offer create meaningful, educational experiences for the thousands of guests who visit our property each year."

As of August 2008, golf course superintendents who attend The Experience will receive 0.45 education points for the Agrium Advanced Technologies’ fertilizer technologies presentation and 0.30 points for the On the Course Tour.

Blake Garrett, Experience manager, said, "FarmLinks’ relationship with GCSAA’s External Education Program creates more opportunities for superintendents to further their education. Additionally, this relationship solidifies our mission here at FarmLinks and allows us to continue to grow and develop our programs as the nation’s premier source for ‘hands-on’ course maintenance information."

GolfLinx gains U.S. golf market partners

GolfLinx International Inc., supplier of soil moisture monitoring packages, has signed exclusive agreements with several leading irrigation products suppliers in North America.

The company has joined forces with The Kilpatrick Co.,--an irrigation products distributor with operations across Southern Florida, and the Caribbean Island Nations--to market and sell the range of GolfLinx soil moisture packages.

This follows an earlier agreement with Horizon, a major distributor of irrigation products in 13 states across the Western U.S.  Together, these two agreements provide GolfLinx with significant representation in North America’s two hottest golfing regions.

GolfLinx has also signed master certified distribution agreements with The Keeling Co. for the exclusive distribution of GolfLinx products through Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Northern Alabama; and Carolina Turf Partners for South Carolina.  Keeling's heritage is in agricultural markets but is now a major supplier to the golfing and sports turf market.
