Toro launches Workman MD Series
The Toro Co. says its new Workman MD Series utility vehicles have launched and are now available.
Toro says that through customer research and experience in core market segments, it identified the need to focus on utility vehicle ride quality for increased operator comfort.
"The hard work shouldn’t start until our customers reach the job site," said J. Wade Tollison Jr., marketing manager. "With jobs that demand greater productivity than ever before, our customers are embracing the new Workman MD Series with Superior Ride Quality."
The SRQ system combines a calibrated, coil-over shock absorber suspension design with a patented Active In-Frame twister joint. Each axle reacts independently to the terrain so that all four wheels remain on the ground. In addition, the operator platform was extended for additional leg room. Some of the many customer benefits include greater operator comfort, improved productivity and efficiency gains, increased safety, and reduced job fatigue.
Aesthetic upgrades to the front body include the latch-opened injection-molded plastic hood, as well as a steel diamond plate floorboard. In addition, the battery for the MD and MDX gasoline models has been relocated from underneath the cargo bed to outside the vehicle frame, allowing for easier access for the operator or technician.

Tanaka’s first Inspire design model now available
Nikko Tanaka USA says its anticipated Inspire design handheld blower, the Tanaka THB-260PF, is now available for purchase.
The model is defined by its honeycomb-shaped, PA6 GF30 plastic outer housings that are said to be more than twice as strong as similar products using ABS plastic housings.
The Inspire design was developed by the Hitachi Power Tool industrial design team and eventually Tanaka’s complete product lineup will consist of the Inspire design.
"This new design looks great, but its main purpose is to provide increased durability to help reduce downtime," said Jeff Wright, vice president of sales and marketing.
The THB-260PF comes standard with cruise control, a soft elastomeric grip, and is shredder/vacuum capable. The optional THV-260 vacuum attachment kit will be available for purchase next month. It also features a high-volume fan nozzle which puts out 368 cubic feet per minute with a maximum air speed of 180 mph.
The blower is powered by a 25 cc, 1.3 horsepower PureFire two-stroke engine, has a 23-ounce, see-through fuel tank and a Walbro carburetor with primer. Other features include a 68 db(A) sound pressure rating, built-in assist handle, and two heavy-duty foam air filters. It is covered by a two-year commercial warranty and a three-year homeowner warranty. Visit http://www.tanakapowerequipment.com.

Simplify access box lid replacement
Pentek Access Boxes has introduced a multi-purpose lid specifically developed to fit 6- and 7-inch round access boxes regardless of brand - Universal Econo Lids.
Because a single solution now accommodates multiple sizes and brands the Universal Econo Lids help minimize inventory and eliminate the need to order from multiple vendors, saving both time and money. As a result, Universal Econo Lids simplify the replacement process for those tasked with ordering and installing access box lids.
Constructed of Superflexon recycled material, the lids are said to be stronger than those made from structural foam. Independent laboratory compression load tests performed on six major access box brands showed the Pentek brand (known as Armor Access Boxes at the time) to be the strongest. They are available in a variety of popular color choices, including green, black, mulch brown and purple.
Pentek also offers the industry's only 10-year lid guarantee. Visit http://www.pentekaccessboxes.com.
Turf-Tec redesigns precipitation/uniformity gauges
Turf-Tec International has introduced a redesigned set of Precipitation/Uniformity Gauges.
The gauges are designed to be set up in a head to head or grid pattern to determine how much water is applied from an irrigation system and to also show the water coverage uniformity. The company says they are also useful in perfoturrming water audits with companion tools like Infiltrometers and moisture sensors.
The set of 20 gauges are calibrated in tenths of an inch and millimeters for ease of reading the amount of water in each gauge. The measuring cups are made from strong plastic and the mounting brackets are made from stainless steel for ease of use and long life. The set consists of 16 large gauges and four small gauges. The small gauges are positioned closest to the sprinklers to insure water collection from second and third stream nozzle designs. Visit http://www.turf-tec.com/.
Xtreme Charge adds life to 12-volt batteries
PulseTech Products Corp. says Xtreme Charge and Xtreme Charge X2 are next-generation 12-volt battery chargers that provide users with the most advanced charging and maintenance system available to date.
"Our goal with the Xtreme Charge product family is to commercialize many years of R&D for the U.S. Military into a unique product that addresses many of the feature and usage challenges facing both battery distributors and end users," said Pete Smith, president. Smith said tens of thousands batteries are needlessly replaced annually due to a lack of proper charging and maintenance.
"Finally with Xtreme Charge, the users have a battery charger that will charge any 12-volt lead acid battery, safely and simply, and through the application of our patented Pulse Technology will increase average battery life by three to five times," he said.
The algorithm built into the charger coupled with advanced battery evaluation capabilities eliminates the need for users to identify battery type or chemistry, to select and set any specific charge criteria prior to charging or worry about charging in an improper or potentially unsafe manner.
"The idea was to make a charger so simple to use—that it actually does get used regularly. You don’t even have to turn it on, just connect it to the battery, plug it in and your battery is charging," added Smith.
The company says the patented Pulse technology minimizes the size of sulfation buildup on battery plates and substantially improves a battery’s ability to accept and store energy, thus extending battery life.
The Xtreme Charge X2 is a rugged dual-station 12-volt maintenance charger. In addition to maintaining multiple vehicles, the X2 could be used on many dual battery 24-volt systems. Contact 888-287-9314, http://www.xtremecharge.com.
