GCSAA
to introduce new online forum next week.
GCSAA's newest forum “Municipal
Square” will soon be available to members
and will cover topices specific to government
owned/managed facilities. Members who work under
city, county, state or other government structures
face unique challenges and opportunities. Communications
on such issues will be a valuable activity for
all.The forum will work in the same manner as
GCSAA's existing online forums. Look for the new
Municipal Square forum Aug. 7.
Learn how chapters and
GCSAA are working together for you. GCSAA's
Chapter Relations Committee met June 26-27 at
GCSAA headquarters to discuss ways GCSAA can help
chapters be more effective in serving members,
including offering leadership training and strategic

GCSAA loses
legend. Sherwood A. Moore, CGCS, died
on Saturday, July 29, at the age of 90. Moore,
a 67-year GCSAA member, served as the association's
president in 1962 and won its highest honor, the
Old Tom Morris Award, in 1990. Earlier this year
his alma mater, the Stockbridge School of Agriculture
at the University of Massachusetts, awarded
him an honorary doctorate and announced the
establishment of the Sherwood A. Moore Turfgrass
Research Endowment. More information about Moore
and his contributions to the industry can be found
in the Aug. 3 issue of GCSAA's NewsWeekly
and in the September issue of Golf Course
Management magazine.

The seminar is taught by Roch Gaussoin,
Ph.D., professor of agronomy and horticulture,
as well as extension specialist for the
University of Nebraska, and James Murphy,
Ph.D., extension specialist in turf management
at Rutgers-the State University of New Jersey.
Illegal labor.
Violating immigration laws by hiring undocumented
workers could expose employers to class action lawsuits
and potential liability under the Racketeer Influenced
and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). The U.S. Supreme
Court recently agreed to hear a Georgia case that
should determine whether employers can be held liable
under RICO for immigration-based claims.
