Moore, a 67-year GCSAA member, served as the association's president in 1962 and won its highest honor, the Old Tom Morris Award, in 1990. Earlier this year his alma mater, the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts, awarded him an honorary doctorate and announced the establishment of the Sherwood A. Illegal labor. Violating immigration laws by hiring undocumented workers could expose employers to class action lawsuits and potential liability under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). The U.S. Supreme Court recently agreed to hear a Georgia case that should determine whether employers can be held liable under RICO for immigration-based claims.
