New 2007 seminars announced

The Education Committee approved 11 new seminars at its April meeting at GCSAA headquarters. The seminars will debut during the GCSAA Education Conference held in conjunction with the 2007 Golf Industry Show in Anaheim. More than 100 seminars will be offered at the 2007 conference.

The new seminars include:

  • Habitat Assessment Techniques
  • Setting Your Course Standards and Measuring the Mark
  • Modern Lake Management
  • Developing a Water Quality Monitoring Program
  • Streambank Stabilization for Golf Courses
  • Organic Approach to Golf Course Management
  • Genetically Engineered Turfgrasses: Promise or Disaster?
  • Advanced Management of Ultradwarf Bermudagrass Golf Greens
  • Making the Most of Your Job Today While Preparing for Tomorrow
  • Cutting Costs, not Corners, during Renovation
  • Write it Right

In addition, some modifications will be made to existing seminars prior to the 2007 seminar season. The modifications will be based on evaluations provided by seminar participants.

The committee also identified topics and speakers for conference sessions, including the two Innovative Superintendent Sessions, Coffee Talk with the Experts, and the "You Asked for it . . .You Got It!" session that will focus on current issues facing members and will be based on member input. The committee approved a new public golf forum for Anaheim as well.
