Deadline for EGR nominations nearing. The GCSAA Excellence in Government Relations Awards recognize and honor outstanding individual and chapter efforts in the areas of advocacy and compliance. 2007 EGR recipients will be notified next month and recognized at the Golf Industry Show in Anaheim in February 2007. Nominations must be submitted to GCSAA on or before Nov. 15.
GCSAA Member Needs Survey coming Nov. 15. Every GCSAA member will have the opportunity to provide input and feedback on association programs and services through a needs assessment survey that will be distributed via e-mail Nov. 15. Instructions on how members can access the survey online will be distributed via mail to those whose e-mail addresses are not in the GCSAA database. The survey will close Dec. 15. Voice your opinion and let your needs be known. Participants will receive .25 service points for completeing the survey. For more information, check out a list of frequently asked questions.

Charles Fultz wins GCSAA's Leo Feser Award. Charles Fultz has been selected to receive the 2006 GCSAA Leo Feser Award for his article, “The great communicators,” which appeared in the March 2006 issue of Golf Course Management.

H-2B extension approved. On Oct. 17, President Bush signed into law a one-year extension of the "Save Our Small and Seasonal Businesses Act," which was set to expire Oct. 1. The extension, which passed as part of the Defense Authorization bill, exempts returning seasonal workers from counting against the national cap of 66,000 seasonal immigrant visas.
