New leadership seminars to debut in Anaheim. GCSAA is teaming up with the Rockhurst University Continuing Education Center to provide education programs for association members. Two seminars from Rockhurst's Leadership and Management Certificate Program will be available to GCSAA members at the GCSAA Education Conference Feb. 19-24, 2007 in Anaheim, Calif.

Class A  business cards now available. Class A members can  now promote their status with Class A business cards. GCSAA member and CGCS  business cards are also available for purchase.

View Chapter Delegates Meeting outcomes. A PDF file containing the complete outcomes of the Chapter Delegates Meeting held last month is now available online. A summary of the meeting also is available.

Hurdzan to be keynote speaker at NIGM. Michael J. Hurdzan, Ph.D., an internationally recognized authority on golf course environmental issues, will give the keynote address at the National Institute of Golf Management Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at the Oglebay Resort and Conference Center in Wheeling, W.Va.

Education spotlight of the week

Check out the courses offered through GCSAA and ASGCA

GCSAA has teamed with the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) to deliver dynamic education, available in a variety of formats.

Remodeling University is designed to educate golf course decision-makers on the basics of course remodeling, including budgeting, the planning process and the roles and responsibilities of those involved. Remodeling University and Remodeling University II will be offered live in Anaheim, Calif., 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, during the GCSAA Education Conference. New this year, both classes will visit the Golf Course Solutions Center “Building of the Bunkers” on the trade show floor as part of the curriculum.

On Nov. 30, two ASGCA past presidents, Tom Marzolf and Bob Lohmann will present a new webcast, Planning for Replacement - How long does this stuff last?, that will offer a quick look at the key portions of master planning and the life expectancy of golf course features.

Two online courses featuring excerpts from the Remodeling University also are available.

GCSAA education programs are funded by The Environmental Institute for Golf. Regional seminars are presented in partnership with Jacobsen, a Textron Co., and webcasts are presented in partnership with Syngenta Professional Products.

Last-minute turkey reprieve. Each year the President of the United States pardons a turkey before Thanksgiving at a White House ceremony. You can cast your vote on a name for the lucky bird (and its alternate) on the White House Web site. President Bush will announce the winning names Wednesday, Nov. 22.
