Localized Dry Spots on the Golf Course
Managing Turfgrass Root Systems -- South
Trees, Landscape Design and Course Character
"Localized Dry Spots on the Golf Course" will discuss the cause, detection and management of LDS caused by water-repellent soils. "Managing Turfgrass Root Systems -- South" will review the factors that affect warm-season turfgrass root growth and how it can be managed. The importance of monitoring soil temperature, as well as mowing, irrigation, cultivation and fertilization practices -- important factors in developing IPM and BMP programs -- also will be discussed. Keith Karnok, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Georgia in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, will teach both seminars.
"Trees, Landscape Design and Course Character" will focus on golf course character analysis to determine the best environmental approach to landscape enhancement with play and maintenance in mind. This seminar, taught by professional golf course architect Craig Schreiner, ASGCA, ASLA, will cover analysis, design project support, and phasing and implementation via PowerPoint and design. |
