Outcomes from board of directors meeting available. At its meeting last month in Orlando, the GCSAA Board of Directors committed to an extensive review of the association’s relationship with chapters. The board selected the chapter relations committee to take a comprensive look at the issue and develop recommendations that will lead to a mutually positive relationship and advance the mission of both parties. In addition, the board updated the certification code of standards and standing rules of membership, and heard a final report of the 2006 indicators.

John Deere & Co. continues to support research programs. The Environmental Institute for Golf welcomes John Deere & Co. to its Platinum Tee Club, recognizing its donation from the 2006 John Deere World Championship. A portion of the company’s donation was applied to complete its pledge to the Investing in the Beauty of Golf endowment campaign. The remaining portion makes John Deere a Platinum Tee Club member, and the company is also a member of the Champion’s Club.

Tradition continues with portrait created by Pursell for Solutions Challenge. Since 1994, accomplished artist David Pursell, vice president of sales and marketing for Agrium Advanced Technologies, has created and donated a drawing for the print given to participants in the Solutions Challenge during the annual show. This year's drawing is of Alister MacKenzie, one of the game's most well-known golf course architects. In addition to his responsibilities with Agrium, Pursell creates pencil-drawn portraits of distinguished golfers and sports heroes (to view portraits, click on About PTI, then David Pursell Prints from the company homepage).

Using Excel to Enhance Your Operation 2007
Webcast: Thursday, March 8,  2  p.m (CST)

Excel spreadsheets organize a lot of detail in a single place. While they can help manage your work processes, creating them can be time consuming. That’s where GCSAA’s next webcast comes in. Not only will Tracy Adair Derning, GCSAA’s senior specialist and software trainer, help you improve your Excel computer skills, she’ll also provide specific workbooks that you can download and use right away. This 90-minute webcast will explain the formulas and functions in these tools, created specifically for golf course management, so you’ll get even more out of your training time.

Adair Derning teaches webcasts covering a variety of computer applications, including several designed to help you be a better computer consumer. These are available On Demand as part of GCSAA’s Technology Tune-up Series.

GCSAA education programs are funded by The Environmental Institute for Golf. Regional seminars are presented in partnership with Jacobsen, a Textron Co., and webcasts are presented in partnership with Syngenta Professional Products.
