Government affairs at the 2022 GCSAA Conference and Trade Show

by Government Affairs Team | Jan 11, 2022

GCSAA’s government affairs staff is set to host multiple events you won’t want to miss at the 2022 GCSAA Conference and Trade Show.

All ambassadors are encouraged to attend either, or both, of the Grassroots Ambassador Academies. Both sessions will feature special guest trainer Amy Showalter, who will lead ambassadors through multiple communications modules covering why legislator relationships are still the “platinum standard” of influence, how to build trust with those who are apathetic or even averse to your policy position, how to get through to legislators in a world of hyper-abundant content and noise and much more.

After Ambassador Academy 1 on Feb. 8, Grassroots Ambassadors will also have the opportunity to mix and mingle with golf course management industry leaders at the GCSAA Foundation Donors and Grassroots Ambassadors Reception. Check your email for a special invite.

On Feb. 9, GCSAA’s government affairs staff will provide updates on the latest legislative and regulatory action happening around the country at the local, state and federal levels. They will be joined by GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans, GCSAA President Mark Jordan, CGCS, and Lauren Thompson to recognize and celebrate the 2022 Excellence in Government Affairs Award Winner, Cactus & Pine GCSA. This one-hour session will happen 3-4 p.m. on the trade show floor in Booth 125 and is open to all attendees.

Also, don’t miss the RISE Industry Issues breakfast 6:30-7:45 a.m. on Feb. 9. to hear the latest policy challenges facing pesticide applicators across the country and how the golf industry has engaged to defend product stewardship and right to operate. RSVP to Chava McKeel at cmckeel@gcsaa.org if you would like to attend.

Finally, be sure to stop by the GCSAA member services booth at the trade show to learn more about the GCSAA Political Action Committee, the Grassroots Ambassador program, and any government affairs related topic you’d like to discuss.
