The life of a golf course superintendent is to say the least, a very busy one. Everyday is scheduled pretty tight to fit everything into the day. Usually the entire week has been laid out, as well. Now add all of the things that come with the holiday season and you have a situation for even more stress to enter your daily life. Stop, drop and think.
This profession does offer a lot of positive perks to the daily grind. Everyone's situation is a little different but for the most part all superintendents get to work outside with like minded people working together to achieve a common goal. Think about your own situation and take time to look at the work you get to perform everyday. When stressful times come, like during the holidays, remember that there is a whole lot of good things going on in your life that are way more important than if you are a few minutes late to the next event.
Superintendents are notorious for finishing one project and jumping right in to the next one. It's okay to take a minute and appreciate the finished task. Take some time to enjoy what you do. Stress can be managed, you just need to remember that you control it. Enjoy your holidays with family and friends and I will see you next year.
