As a golf course superintendent, you must qualify to apply to the certification program by first meeting the golf course superintendent experience and point requirements, as defined by your level of education.
Completing GCSAA's online Self-Assessment is a requirement for certification applicant
status. It will help you identify the competencies needed to perform successfully
as a golf course superintendent, the recommended standards set for certification,
and the education resources available to help you learn and/or strengthen your knowledge,
skills and abilities in all areas.
This must be turned in with your initial application to the program. It can and
should be started at any time in your career. GCSAA offers a variety of resources
to guide you in the creation of your portfolio.
This is a closed-book, multiple-choice exam given after you become an applicant
in the program. You will have one year to successfully complete the exam.
The attesting of your golf course facility is also conducted after you become an
applicant in the program, and you'll have one year to complete this step.
