PCNB back on the market for golf course turf

The snow mold fungicide had been off the market since August 2010

PCNB, a fungicide used to control snow mold, is back on the market for golf course turf after the EPA approved certain registrations Nov. 23 for American Vanguard Corp.'s PCNB product line for all major commercial uses. As a result, the company's subsidiary, Amvac Chemical Corp., is permitted to sell PCNB into the golf course turf, potato, cotton ornamental bulb and cole crop markets domestically. The company says it continues to work with the EPA on labeling for other uses.

The fungicide was issued a Stop Sale, Use or Removal Order from the EPA in August 2010. On Aug. 17, 2011, the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court granted the company's motion for summary judgment and vacated the stop order, according to a release from the company.

Eric Wintemute, chairman and CEO of the company, said in the release, "Our technical, legal and customer service teams have worked tirelessly for over a year to ensure our PCNB product line meets EPA's standards to re-enter the market. We are pleased by today's actions as it restores this highly effective product to a marketplace that truly values its importance."
