Dear <insert supervisor's name>,

I would like to attend the 2010 GCSAA Education Conference and the Golf Industry Show, the leading event in the golf course management industry. The conference and show will be held February 8 – 12 and has been completely revamped, decreasing conflict between the conference and the trade show in order to increase learning and networking opportunities for attendees.  This year’s event will enable me to attend a number of education seminars and sessions directly applicable to my career and the facility, preview the most innovative products in the industry and network with a variety of golf course management experts and colleagues from around the world.

The seminars and sessions are specifically tailored to focus on the biggest issues facing superintendents today, like the economy and environment, and will educate me on new ways to further improve our facility, even on a tight budget.  The products available at the show are at the forefront of the golf industry, and provide me with the opportunity to preview equipment first-hand and spend invaluable face time with knowledgeable vendors.

After reviewing the conference brochure, I have identified a number of sessions and seminars that will allow me to gain knowledge and understanding of the latest trends and techniques in our industry. The presentations are facilitated by industry experts and colleagues who have faced similar challenges. I chose each of these presentations because they directly relate to an issue we are dealing with currently or may face in the near future. Being able to obtain the information in a seminar format will greatly reduce the research time and costs that we would normally incur in researching the topics. Below are a few examples of the seminars and sessions I am interested in attending at the conference:

I would like to further discuss with you the value of budgeting for me to attend the 2010 conference and show. The opportunity for me to improve my career and our facility, as well as develop strong industry contacts and gain knowledge in specific areas of golf course management, makes my attendance at the 2010 GCSAA Education Conference and the Golf Industry Show a wise investment that will yield rich dividends.

Sincerely,
