While few deny that practicing good environmental stewardship in the maintenance of golf courses is the right thing to do, the cost of applying those practices is often a source of concern for superintendents. But as the featured story by free-lance writer Peter Bronski in this month’s issue of GCM points out, going green can pay off for courses in the form of tax incentives. Also, we recognize the 80th anniversary of GCSAA with a pair of stories focused on the history of the association. This month’s cover photo by Aidan Bradley (www.golfcoursephotography.com) features the 7th hole of the Palmer Course at The K Club in Straffan, County Kildare, Ireland, which is hosting this month’s Ryder Cup (“A-OK at The K Club” ). Gerry Byrne, a nine-year GCSAA member, is resort superintendent at The K Club.
