Vines, Jesperson and Schmid win Watson Fellowship grants
Phillip Vines of Mississippi, and David Jesperson and Charles (Chas) Schmid of Rutgers University have each won $5,000 grants as part of GCSAA's Dr. James Watson Fellowship Program. The Watson Program honors postgraduate students identified as promising teachers or researchers in golf course management. The program is funded through a partnership with the Toro Co. and the EIFG.
Compensation survey deadline extended to Jan. 30
You have a few more days to take part in GCSAA's Compensation and Benefits Report Survey. The deadline to take the survey has been extended to Friday, Jan. 30. It is open to all Class A and SM members. Survey results will be published this spring.
Congrats to Penny Mitchell, retiring from GCSAA after 28 years
GCSAA is saying goodbye to one of its most familiar faces. After nearly three decades with the association, Penny Mitchell, senior manager, certification, will be retiring on Feb. 6. We wish her the best as she moves onto the next chapter of her life and a well-deserved retirement.
GCSAA seeks field staff representative for Great Lakes region
GCSAA is looking for a dedicated professional to serve the 20 chapters in the Great Lakes region as a field staff representative. Candidates should have at least three years' experience in the golf industry and a bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience). Apply for the position by Feb. 18.
