Board approves 2012 budget at winter meeting

At its 2011 winter board meeting, the GCSAA Board of Directors approved the association's 2012 fiscal year plan and budget. In a letter to members earlier this month, GCSAA CEO Rhett Evans noted projected revenues of $15.1 million for 2012, representing a modest increase of 2.5 percent over 2011. IGCEMAGCSAA supports IGCEMA certificate program

GCSAA has announced its support of the certificate program of the International Golf Course Equipment Managers Association. GCSAA President Bob Randquist, CGCS, urged superintendents to encourage the participation of their equipment managers and technicians in the program, which tests on six competencies.

Which fungicides and nematicides are more effective against turf diseases?

Find out through Plant Disease Management Reports (PDMR), a collection from the Plant Management Network of university-based efficacy trials for fungicides, nematicides and biological controls of various crops, including turfgrass. Subscribe to view more than 250 chemical and nonchemical trials on turfgrasses and diseases. Visit PDMR and do keyword searches by disease, turfgrass variety, active chemical, biological/cultural practice, or product name. GCSAA members can subscribe to PDMR, Applied Turfgrass Science, and PMN's other turf resources for $38 a year.

Poke a Hole in This: New Info on Aerification

Aerification is frequently used tool for managing compaction and thatch in turfgrass, yet there's not much research on how it affects the soil and turf. Beth Guertal, Ph.D., will analyze the results of work being done at Auburn University that examines the effects of aerification frequency, solid v. hollow tines, and various depths.
