The Toro Co.’s improved Sand Pro 3040/5040 power bunker rakes are equipped with Toro’s Quick Attach System, which allows operators to switch from among 17 different attachments in less than a minute. The machines’ hydraulic Flex Blade combines hydraulic lift capabilities with a steerable flex blade for maneuverability and reduced operator influence. Equipped with a fuel-efficient, 16-hp Vanguard engine, the Sand Pro 3040 features improved gear-drive assisted steering, increased ground clearance and a new gear system that is completely sealed from the environment. Arysta LifeScience Corp. has received federal registration for fluoxastrobin, a strobilurin fungicide providing control of plant diseases on turfgrass. The company will market the new fungicide as Disarm in golf course, lawn care, sports turf and sod production markets. Arysta received exclusive global marketing rights to fluoxastrobin in turf and ornamental markets last year and anticipates a full U.S. launch pending state registrations. SandMat bunker liner will be introducing propane torch-cuttable versions of SandMat 400 and SandMat 200 this spring. SandMat will also be rolling out its previously announced Roll Certification program for both its SandMat 400 and SandMat 200 products this spring. The program will provide SandMat customers with documentation verifiying conformation to key performance properties as taken directly from manufacturing quality control data at the company’s plants in Los Angeles, St. Louis and Orlando. Nufarm Americas has added Razor Burn to its line of herbicides for the professional turf and ornamental market. Razor Burn is a liquid pre-mix formulation of glyphosate and diquat that offers broad-spectrum, nonselective control of many annual weeds, perennial weeds, woody brush and trees. Razor Burn has no soil residual activity and may be applied through most standard sprayers after dissolution and thorough mixing with water according to label instructions. Bird-B-Gone Inc. introduces Goose Chase Super Sonic, a system that sends out actual goose distress and alarm calls, mixed with predator calls to deter geese from golf courses. Armorex, from Soil Technologies Corp., is a new biochemical formulation that is used as a soil treatment to kill and control pathogenic nematodes, insects and fungus. Armorex is an EPA-exempt, minimum-risk pesticide and it has no re-entry restriction. Armorex blends essential plant oils such as sesame, which is highly toxic to nematodes. Farmers have used sesame in crop rotations for centuries because of its ability to reduce nematode infestations. In addition, Armorex contains extracts of rosemary, clove, garlic and pepper, all of which are effective nematode suppressants, the company says. PACE Turfgrass Research Institute has launched Super Journal, a free online turf research journal. According to Wendy Gelernter, Ph.D., PACE’s co-research director, turf managers conduct thousands of replicated experiments each year to evaluate products and practices. Super Journal’s submission requirements are not as rigorous as an academic journal’s, but PACE does require that the basic principles of experimental design, data recording and data summary be followed. Two models from Hydrema have been introduced in North America: the 922C and the 912C series 2. 912C series 2 is a small two-axle articulated dump truck designed for operating in very difficult terrain and in confined working areas. It is suited to applications such as golf courses because of its low ground pressure and steering geometry. The truck has an empty weight of 15,344 pounds and a capacity of 7.6 yards, or 22,046 pounds. The 922C is a 22-ton dump truck. Bernhard and Co. offers the express dual blade thinning attachment, intended for golf courses that want to do an annual relief grinding without compromising the speed and ease of express dual. The attachment allows for a relief grind to be done with the express dual without taking up any additional workspace. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s National Service Center for Environmental Publications has new digital services available at http://nepis.epa.gov/. The service offers full text searching online, as well as publications for education, business and government. More than 13,000 environmental publications are maintained in the agency’s online archive, and a new bookshelf feature allows the recall of saved links to online documents for use in future visits. PDFs of scanned documents can now be created for downloading and printing. Environmental Publications in hardcopy, on DVD, CD-ROM and video are also still available at www.epa.gov/ncepihom/ index.htm.

UpLink has launched TracLink, a system that monitors the locations of all maintenance vehicles and equipment in real time. TracLink helps superintendents manage their crews more efficiently and gives them the real-time information they need to quickly locate and deploy specific vehicles and staff to new locations as priorities change. The system wirelessly sends a color course map to the superintendent’s computer that displays GPS tracking devices attached to each service vehicle. The dashview version is available with select Club Car vehicles, while the INOVA roofview version is available for any make or model of golf car, including Club Car, Yamaha and E-Z GO. SePRO has introduced Cutless granular landscape growth regulator, designed for systemic growth suppression of established woody landscape ornamentals and perennial ground covers.
