New Posts - Identifying and Reading

There is a difference in the way this forum version alerts users about new messages -- It's the light bulb in the message icon. The forum home page does list statistics for you like the number of topics and the number of messages, but those don't tell you about new messages. This light bulb image tells us whether or not there are any new messages in a particular forum or if there are new replies within a forum topic/post.

This is what the message icon looks like when there is a new message in one of the forums.

When you are inside one of the forums, you can quickly tell if there are new replies since your last visit by looking for the light bulb in the message icon, as shown below -- there are only 2 posts that have new replies.
