2016 Chapter Outreach Grants announced
Seventeen GCSAA-affiliated chapters have been awarded 2016 GCSAA Chapter Outreach Grants, including one for a joint effort by five Ohio chapters to create a television program on Fox One Ohio. The grants help chapters promote superintendents at the local and regional level. In all, GCSAA will fund $24,500 in grants for projects ranging from signage for the Ryder Cup, to economic impact studies, to buying local airtime for the “Thank a Superintendent” national campaign.
Grass elected 2016 GCSAA president
Peter J. Grass, CGCS at Hilands GC in Billings, Mont., was elected GCSAA president at the association's annual meeting Feb. 11 in San Diego. Bill H. Maynard, CGCS at the CC of St. Albans in St. Louis, was elected vice president; and Darren J. Davis, CGCS and superintendent at Olde Florida GC in Naples, Fla., was elected secretary/treasurer. Elected as directors were Kevin P. Breen, CGCS, and Rafael Barajas, CGCS. John Walker was appointed by the board to a one-year term as director. Continuing to serve the second year of their two-year terms are John Fulling, CGCS, and Mark Jordan, CGCS. John O'Keefe, CGCS, will continue on the board as immediate past president.
