Twenty-seven affiliated chapters strengthen their leadership and association management skills at GCSAA symposium
Forty-seven representatives from 27 affiliated chapters participated in GCSAA’s Chapter Leaders/Executives Symposium, March 25-26 at GCSAA Headquarters. Chapters sent a volunteer leader (often the vice president or secretary) and executive staff to the one-and-a-half day program. It provided an opportunity to strengthen the chapter’s leadership team, build on successes, and learn new concepts and ideas to support chapter effectiveness.
The symposium objectives were:
- Enhance your interpersonal relationships by better understanding your leadership and communication styles, and how it impacts your interaction with others
- Learn how to be a highly successful team leader for your facility and your chapter
- Understand how to provide a more meaningful chapter experience, through the engagement of members and volunteer involvement
- Develop a foundation to achieve chapter goals
- Build a professional network of peers who share best practices and innovative ideas
“This has been a rewarding experience that has fulfilled my goals for the event. I have learned more in the 2 days here than from any other source!” Vincent Matics, Jr., CGCS, New Hampshire GCSA vice-president.
Session topics included:
- The Value Proposition – Recruiting new members and retaining the ones you have
- The Partner Recognition Program – a different approach to generating non-dues revenue
- Planning Education for Your Chapter
- Securing the Future
- Leadership Styles Workshop
- Technology Tips and Training
