2008 Excellence In Government Relations Awards

The GCSAA Excellence In Government Relations Awards recognize and honor outstanding individual and chapter efforts in government relations. Recipients are recognized for efforts and accomplishments in the areas of advocacy and compliance.

Who is eligible for the EGR Awards?

Any GCSAA member superintendent, assistant superintendent or chapter is eligible to receive the award. Current members of the GCSAA Board of Directors (or their immediate families) are not eligible to receive EGR Awards. Government Relations Committee members are eligible but will not participate in the judging process for the category in which they are nominated. Individuals and chapters may not receive the award in consecutive years.

Who can submit EGR Awards nominations?

Anyone may submit nominations. Self-nominations are also encouraged. Those who were nominated last year, but did not receive an award, are eligible again this year.

Criteria

Nominees will be judged on how their efforts best serve the interests of the golf course industry. The awards reflect all government relations efforts, and are not limited to the previous year's activities. Efforts do not have to be "successful" in order for nominees to receive the award.

Awards will be given for the following categories:

Advocacy:
Creation or successful use of tools, programs or efforts to influence laws and regulations affecting the golf course industry, including but not limited to work with lawmakers, regulators, alliances, coalitions and other entities.

Compliance:
Creation or successful use of tools, programs or efforts to encourage member compliance with laws and regulations, including but not limited to environmental laws, occupational safety and chemical applications.

Who will select the EGR Awards recipients?

EGR Awards recipients will be selected by the Government Relations Committee.

EGR Awards recipients receive:

  • Complimentary registration to the 2008 Golf Industry Show
  • Recognition in GCSAA publications and Web sites
  • Recognition at the 2008 Golf Industry Show in Orlando, Fla.
  • A personalized trophy & certificate of achievement
  • National, regional and local publicity
  • Name on a permanent plaque at GCSAA headquarters

Where can I get additional copies of the 2008 EGR Awards nomination form?

In addition to the online nomination form, nomination forms are available through GCSAA Member Solutions at (800) 472-7878.

When is the nomination deadline?

The deadline for nominations is Oct. 15, 2007.

When will the EGR Awards recipients be announced?

You will receive a confirmation letter from GCSAA within two weeks of GCSAA receiving your nomination. Recipients will be notified in December 2007 and recognized at the Golf Industry Show in Orlando in February 2008.

Please contact Nathan Littlejohn at (800) 472-7878, ext. 4493 if you have questions.
