  • Official call for 2016 GCSAA Board nominations

    Nominations are now open for the GCSAA Board of Directors through July 6. Three officer and two director positions will be up for election for the GCSAA Board of Directors at the 2016 annual meeting in San Diego, Calif.

  • O'Keefe elected president of GCSAA
    John J. O’Keefe, CGCS, director of golf course management at Preakness Hill Country Club in Wayne, N.J., has been elected president of GCSAA for 2015. Peter J. Grass, CGCS, will be vice president and William H. Maynard, CGCS, will serve as secretary/treasurer. Rafael Barajas, CGCS, will continue on the board as a director and Kevin P. Breen, CGCS, was appointed to the board for a one-year term. Also at the Annual Meeting, the membership approved a slight dues increase for 2015.

  • New Equipment Manager membership classification approved

    GCSAA members voted to introduce an equipment manager classification for association membership. The vote took place as part of the Annual Meeting. Equipment managers will be welcomed with a complimentary introductory membership through 2015 and can register online at GCSAA has compiled a collection of tools and resources specifically for equipment managers.

NPDES pesticide permit fix bill advances in House
On March 19, the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture passed H.R. 897, a bill to eliminate the need for a Clean Water Act NPDES permit for aquatic pesticide applications.

H-2B program up and running again
Thanks to GCSAA members who urged the Departments of Labor and Homeland Security to immediately resume processing H-2B prevailing wage determinations and labor certifications. The program is up and running again and the agencies are working to issue new regulations by April 15 to govern the program moving forward.

Florida GCSA earns Excellence in Government Relations Award
The Florida GCSA has earned the 2015 Excellence in Government Relations Award for its statewide collaboration with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to establish best management practices for golf courses.

GCSAA seeks Grassroots Ambassadors
GCSAA is taking its government relations efforts to the next level with GCSAA Grassroots Ambassadors. The goal is to match a member of GCSAA with each member of Congress, and to build strong relationships between them. The program will establish a network of committed volunteers to serve as the “go-to” people for lawmakers and their staff on golf course management issues.
