Planning Tips – Make the Most of Your Time in New Orleans
Consider the type of education format you prefer. The Education Conference will offer a variety of education formats--such as seminars, sessions and forums. Seminars require an additional fee and are available in different lengths, ranging from half-day to two-days. Sessions and forums are shorter programs on various topics with multiple speaker presentations and are included in the full-conference registration package. Examine the types of education programs offered and choose those that suit your preferences and needs.

2. |
When selecting seminars, be sure to indicate a first, second and third choice. Class sizes are limited and you want to be sure and get in the seminar that most interests you. |
3. |
In addition to seminars, plan which sessions or forums you want to attend ahead of time. |
4. |
Plan a balance of education and other activities. In addition to seminars, sessions and forums, for example, you will want to attend the Golf Industry Show and visit with exhibitors. |
5. |
Prioritize the education programs and activities you would like to participate in ahead of time. The event is large and it is likely you won’t be able to do everything you hope to do. |
6. |
Plan your travel days carefully. To be at the top of your game, you may not want to arrive or depart on days that you also plan to attend education or other activities.
|
7. |
Allow room in your luggage for the materials you collect during the conference. Alternatively, use the lead retrieval system in place throughout the show floor to have materials sent to you when you get back home.
|
8. |
Know in advance where your hotel accommodations are in relation to the conference, and plan adequate time to get to conference education and activities.
|
9. |
Wear comfortable shoes. Period!
|
10. |
Take every opportunity to talk with people--all sorts of people, including attendees, presenters, staff, exhibitors and so on. In addition to networking, you’re sure to gain new insights into the conference and show, the Association and the industry.
|
11. |
Bring lots of business cards, and don't be afraid to exchange cards with people you meet. If you exchange business cards with someone with the promise to send that person information, be sure to write the details on the back of the card when you receive it. By doing so, you can be sure to remember the specifics of each exchange and promise after you return from the conference.
|
12. |
Schedule time for yourself. Attending education programs, networking, and just being "on" all day can be exhausting. Schedule time for yourself to absorb what you've learned, organize your thoughts, re-energize, and prepare for the next program, activity, or day.
