60-Minute Disasters - Floods

Anthony Williams, CGCS

You've seen articles in Golf Course Management about how fellow superintendents dealt with hurricanes, floods or fires at the facility, and you may have wondered how you would fare if this happened to you.

Now, we've got a series on disasters to help you create or update your emergency response plan. Each webcast will be 60 minutes on a single crisis type. You'll hear what happened, what plan was in place, and what the CGCS in charge learned and now recommends as a critical part of preparation.

In September 2009, the Atlanta area experienced a 5,000-year flood. Anthony Williams, CGCS and ELGA winner, will discuss how that caused catastrophic damage at Stone Mountain Golf Club. You'll hear how participation in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program benefited this 40-year-old course.
