14th Annual Collegiate Turf Bowl Competition
Fri., Feb. 1
8 – 11:30 a.m.
The Collegiate Turf Bowl Competition, facilitated by Leah Brilman, Ph.D., of the Turfgrass Breeders Association, will engage teams of up to four participants in areas of mathematics, turfgrass growth and development, and identification of soils, diseases, weeds, insects and turfgrass species. The exam will also focus on the business and financial management side of the superintendent’s profession, by including a business management case study. Each team will collaborate and submit one case study essay and one exam. A study guide for this event is now available.
Prizes will be awarded to the top-scoring team. Individual member registration is necessary. Teams will sign in together, on site. See registration form. Winners will be announced at the Student/Superintendent Employment Fair and Networking Reception on Friday afternoon.
Please note: This competition is for undergraduates only. Graduate students are welcome to join in the fun, participating individually, but will not be eligible for prizes.
Student Seminar:Are You Ready to Be a Professional?

This seminar covers the basic components of becoming a professional.
Topics will include: active listening; telephone, cell phone, voice mail,
e-mail; business etiquette; and how to prepare a résumé and conduct oneself
in a job interview. (340-01)
