Golf Classic and Four-Ball
If you prefer more relaxed competition, you won’t want to miss the camaraderie of the Golf Classic, the always popular 36-hole event that allows participants to network and share ideas with other competitors from all over the world. The 2008 event will have a gross and net competition in all flights. Players with a handicap index from 0-36 are eligible to play in the Golf Classic, and the field is limited to the first 480 competitors. Flights in the Golf Classic will rotate courses on Monday and Tuesday.
The Golf Classic will use the quota scoring system. A point quota for each round is established by subtracting a player’s verified handicap index from 36. The maximum allowable handicap index for point system scoring is 30. Players with a handicap index over 30 will be assigned the minimum of 6 points per day.
The quota scoring system point values:
0 Double Bogey or worse
1 Bogey
2 Par
3 Birdie
4 Eagle
5 Double Eagle
Taking the player’s point total for the round and subtracting it from the quota for the round will calculate the net score.
Four-Ball
You must be registered in the two-day GCSAA Golf Classic to compete in the
Four-Ball. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing their own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. If one partner fails to complete the play of a hole, there is no penalty. Up to four (4) net divisions will be available. Four-Ball courses will have a shotgun start. Groupings and hole assignments will be available at on-site registration. Under NO circumstances will starting times and pairings be distributed over the phone. To prepare for the competition, practice rounds will be available on the four Golf Classic courses on Friday, Jan. 25, and Saturday Jan. 26.
When you register for the Four-Ball, you will want to indicate whether you have a partner or would like to be assigned one from the pool of players. You and your partner cannot exceed a combined handicap of more than 45. Only one superintendent/pro may play on a Four-Ball team. |
