Phoenix adds Hawk-I insecticide

Hawk-I insecticide is the latest addition to the line of products from Phoenix Environmental Care LLC.

“Hawk-I contains imidacloprid, a very effective insecticide that offers season-long control of grubs,” says Rick Grant, director of business development. “It also controls a wide variety of other insects including annual bluegrass weevils, black turfgrass ataenius, Japanese beetle, oriental beetle, mole crickets and Northern and Southern masked chafer.  The product also provides suppression of cutworms and chinch bugs.”

Onset announces new soil moisture smart sensors

Onset Computer Corp., supplier of battery-powered data loggers and weather stations, has added two new plug-and-play Soil Moisture Smart Sensors for use with Hobo Weather Stations.  

The new sensors provide high accuracy measurements of volumetric water content in soil, and integrate industry-proven Decagon ECH2O dielectric probes for precise, long-term soil moisture monitoring.

They work with Onset's 15-channel Hobo Weather Station and 4-channel Hobo Micro Station, can be configured to measure the user's choice of a wide range of parameters, and are powered for one year using only four AA batteries. Onset offers a number of data logging software and communications options for Hobo Weather Station products.

Spindler Enterprises purchases CytoGro line

Spindler Enterprises has purchased from Plant BioTech Inc. the CytoGro line of turfgrass and ornamental rooting biostimulant products.

CytoGro was introduced to the turf and ornamental market in 1988.  EPA registration was granted after extensive university and private research demonstrating that CytoGro effectively functions as a biostimulant promoting greater root mass and density.  

“We are very excited about the acquisition of CytoGro,” said Jim Spindler, president of the company.  “We plan to expand the distribution of CytoGro, increase promotions, and incorporate it into more combination products.”

Underhill adds turf rotor with 164-foot radius

The Mirage M-160, a new super-sized sprinkler with a 164-foot throwing radius, is now available from Underhill.

The rotor is a piston-driven water cannon, designed to be mounted on sport field sidelines and provides full or part-circle operation. Six M-160s are capable of irrigating an entire football field from outside the playing area.

The unit is 23.6 inches high and has an above-grade pop-up height of 2.75 inches. The arc of coverage can be adjusted from 30º to 360º and the rotation speed can be fine tuned from 100 to 240 seconds. The M-160 has a 23º trajectory.

A range of nozzles from 16 mm to 26 mm is available for efficient water distribution. The M-160 operates at 60 to 120 psi and handles from 96 to 300 gallons per minute.

The 15.6” lid cover is available in green or tan plastic and green or tan artificial turf.

Underhill’s new Mirage series of sprinklers are designed for use on large sports turf areas. In addition to the M-160 the series includes the M-115 with 115 feet of coverage and the M-125 with a 125-foot radius.
