Scientific journal publishes results of GCSAA’s nutrient use report

Applied Turfgrass Science has published an online article based on the third study in GCSAA’s Golf Course Environmental Profile:  “Nutrient Use and Management on U.S. Golf Courses." According to the article, results indicate superintendents apply fertilizers at rates that fall within the guidelines recommended by university scientists.  More >>

Golf facilities required to provide health insurance to seasonal workers or be fined; member action needed

The U.S. Senate is moving quickly to pass its version of healthcare reform (H.R. 3590) by Christmas and the golf industry is concerned about a provision in the bill to require most employers to provide insurance to seasonal workers or be fined. GCSAA has created an action alert to help members share their concerns with lawmakers about the treatment of seasonal workers in the Senate bill. More>>

Deadline for mailed GIS credentials nears

For those who would like to have their 2010 GCSAA Education Conference and Golf Industry Show credentials mailed to them, Friday, Jan. 8 is the deadline to register. Credentials for registrations received after 5 p.m. CST, Friday, Jan. 8, must be picked up in the badge pick-up booth in the registration area in the San Diego Convention Center during registration hours. GCSAA awards Watson Fellowship Program winners

Ronald Calhoun, Paul Koch and James Stiegler each have been awarded $5,000 postgraduate grants by the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) as winners of the 2009 Watson Fellowship Program. More>>

GCSAA to provide limited services last week of December

GCSAA has instituted a staff furlough Dec. 28-31 and will observe the New Year’s Day holiday on Jan. 1. Minimal services will be available through the call center on the days of the furlough. More>>
