Just had this land in my lap when I got back from vacation .... Employee name badges. Has anyone had good or bad out of this? Were they a hinderance? Get in the way? A danger? A blessing? Annoyance?

I've not got a position on this yet... Considering mine will probably be ran over, mown, mashed, lost ...with me still attached to it. I've made a decision that my equipment manager will be immune from this policy.

I've assumed they will either be clip on or lanyards, probably breakaways.

    Thanks.

Our hourly employees have names on their rental uniforms (all the same type). Our mechanic and foreman also have same uniform with name as the want it so they do not have to do laundry. Assistant and Superintendent have nice golf shirts with Club logo and different colors. We wear long pants and are in golf attire daily in season. Winter gear as required once the weather gets cold as few if any golfers are out there. Team effort is our style for sure.

No lanyards...that would be a safety issue. Go with the magnetic ones.

Unless you want to be constantly ordering replacements, go with the ones that have your club name on them and allow you to just add the name with a label maker.

I personally think they add a professional touch.

Everyone on the Baron property has a name badge. It is Gaming Commission policy. You must be wearing it if you go in the employee dining room, casino or any business office around the property. We do have lanyards and they generally are not a problem because they are tucked under a jacket during the cold months. When they are exposed, they certainly could become a safety issue. We just make sure everyone on the golf maintenance crew has their badge on them, even if it is in a pocket.

We have them, but we don't require employees to wear them out on the course due to safety issues. Our mechanics have a uniform service and they have their names on them.

If we go to a meeting or the park office or city offices we will wear them. They are photo id's.

    Douglas,

Our employees don't have names on their uniforms (golf logo polo shirts) but the do have assigned name badges/ID cards that they use to get fuel etc. We decided long ago that actually wearing them led to lots of lost badges due to the nature of the work we do. Still have the occasional problem with the moisture causing problems when they use them for the fuel system.

All the golf shop staff who deal more directly with the customers are required to wear name badges.
