OK, so I go onto the GCSAA tournament registration site and it brings up all my information and I update phone numbers, handicap, questionnaire, etc. to register. I check and change all data and at the last page I click submit. I just then find out the registration will not be accepted because I did not choose an event in Vegas because I am not going to Vegas.
In past years I registered and paid on line but now we can't. GCSAA decided to not accept online registration from those not going to Vegas. Why? I asked a GCSAA rep and she did not know the reason. So now I have to fax in (that old machine in the corner of our offices) to HQ and they will process. I also have to fax in my credit card number or give it to them over the phone.
My questions to the GCSAA staff are the following:
What was the thought process in changing this registration process?
Is this way more efficient than in the past?
Cash flow is king would not the GCSAA want my funds from a on line credit card transaction immediately instead of being faxed or mailing a check?
This whole process will now kill trees and give electrons a break.
    Give me a break!

I have a question, if we have a scanner could we scan the form to PDF and then e-mail it as an attachment? I know it doesn't save paper at the start, (unless it can be downloaded and filled out electronically) but would save on the receiving end of the fax? (Unless the fax gets downloaded to a computer and then there is no paper on the receiving end) Is that even possible? Technology you can't beat it...?

You certainly don't want to email credit card information even in a pdf file.

    Kevin,

Feel free to stir it up - you asked good questions. We passed them on to our registration team, and here's how the changes developed. The changes were made in response to continuing feedback from members who asked for the ability to combine their conference and tournament registrations into one transaction.

Unfortunately, due to limitations in the registration system, we were faced with either combining the two events (and not offering online tournament registration), or leaving it as two separate transactions. Because the majority of tournament participants also go to the conference, we made the change to serve the greater number of members.

That said, based on your feedback, we also took a look at the verbiage within the registration system and the pages leading up to it, and we don't think they do an adequate job of explaining the tournament-only process. The language on the first page of the system has already been modified, and we plan to update the other pages tomorrow.

We're sorry for the frustration, and I hope that helps explain the intent behind the changes. We do hope we can offer this option in the future.

For Mel, barring the security concern, if you submit your registration form by either fax or email, we'll use a printout to process your registration. In terms of paper usage, they'd come out even.

Thanks again for writing. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    - Sharmion

    Kevin,

Glad it helped, and thanks again for asking. (BTW, I get that question all the time - it's pronounced shar-me-un.)

    Kevin,

First, I am glad you will be playing again in this years GCSAA Tournament. It's going to be a great event and one our members will not want to miss. I hope our Chapters take advantage of the Toro incentive program for new players to the event.

Let me research this situation and I will get back to you and post a reply as soon as I get the information I need to respond.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Sandy Queen, GCSAA Vice President and Tournament Chairman

I always imagined it was Adina that did that to your face....then she quit.

Maybe it's pronounced ad-in-a, like putting an ad in a neswpaper.
